He doesn't smoke the pot. He uses it to make a cream that he applies on his skin to treat his various problems as well as butter for baking, thus he needs a lot.
He has also been granted the right to grow and sell cannabis to two other patients. Canada has recently struck down the government's marijuana growing and distributing monopoly, and opened it up to others. Sam Mellace, the patient says he hopes to open up a chain of cannabis dispensaries.
