http://www.dubdaily.com/?p=28272Motive Kestrel — Cannabis-Fiber Car Coming to Canada
When you want your car to post lightning-fast quarter mile times, you design it with as much carbon fiber as possible.
But what if you want it to slow down? What if you want it to not care quite so much about getting to the next stoplight….but the taco bell…that’s a different story….
Then, you build with Cannabis fiber.
Alright, it’s not pot. It’s hemp. But it’s still a variety of cannabis, and it’s the most interesting exotic material we’ve seen used in car design this year. Canada’s Motive Industries has announced plans to build its upcoming Kestrel bio-composite bodied electric car, due out in September.
The car is build from a material derived from hemp, which is legal to grow north of the border. Motive says the material is as impact-resistant as fiberglass, but lighter and cheaper — and weight matters quite a bit where battery-powered vehicles are concerned.
